FIRST LEGO League - challenges children in 4th and 5th grade to think like scientists and engineers to prepare for a competition each December.  This year the theme for the competition is INTO ORBIT.  It begins with a group research project to identify a physical or social problem faced by humans during long-duration space exploration within our Sun’s solar system and propose a solution. Students will also build, test, and program an autonomous robot using LEGO MINDSTORMS technology to solve a set of missions during the robot games. Throughout this experience, teams will operate under core values celebrating discovery, teamwork, and gracious professionalism.  TEN students are selected for the team after an application process.  They meet weekly to prepare for the competition in December.
